Nestled in the North Carolina landscape, Auldern Academy provides a beautiful and open campus, where guidance and supervision is continuously provided so that all girls are safe and supported in their day to day activities. We are less than an hour from both the Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill areas.
Our campus provides all the comforts of home. Most of our students and families find themselves feeling more comfortable and relaxed just stepping on our campus, saying that our warmth is the first thing they experience. Our goal is to be present for our girls, to create an environment where they can feel free to struggle and learn new way of coping within themselves. We provide a safe place and clear boundaries, while working to emotionally attune with our girls, valuing their every struggle and praising their every accomplishment.
Experiences On and Off Campus
Living, working, playing together, it’s the Auldern experience! Nothing about Auldern is “locked down.” Our girls practice growing and healing every single day.
Our residential hall is the hub of a student’s life at Auldern and the scene of many activities. Students generally share a room with up to three other girls and are encouraged to decorate and personalize their space so their own sense of “style” and personality shines through. Two large living room areas provide plenty of space for movies and popcorn, karaoke, board games, knitting projects, puzzles – and more. These experiences are often the memories that the girls hold most dear. This is where healthy relationships and a sense of sisterhood develop, where positive self-worth is cultivated and reinforced.
Students also participate in student government and can join what we call “informal clubs’ which are usually reflecting the wide range of interests the girls have and change over time as girls enroll. Whether formal or informal, these clubs help the girls practice navigational skills for life, learning how to be a leader, how to be heard, how to plan – all while engaging in and discovering their passions.
But we don’t just hang on campus all the time, either. We offer all kinds of activities and opportunities off campus as well – visiting museums, plays and concerts, or participating in adventure-based activities, or supporting our local communities through our service program.
The small towns in our area know Auldern and Auldern girls and love it when they help out on a build for Habitat for Humanity, help on community clean-up days, run/walk a race in support of a good cause, work at the animal shelter, or visit residents at a local nursing home.
