New Year—New Schedule
The Auldern Academy campus is humming with new, fresh energy as the Spring semester gets underway. Every department is working in concert to create novel opportunities for our girls to learn, grow and live healthy, active lives.
In effort to more fully engage our students’ minds, bodies and spirits, our executive director, Angie Fusco, with the support of the entire Academy, has shifted the daily schedule to allow more time for physical activity and intentional down time. Our girls can now participate in various activities, both on campus and off, while still allowing time for study hall and phone calls home. The schedule even allows some time for girls to watch their favorite television programs or have impromptu dance parties before bed!

In the Kitchen at Auldern
While physical activity and creative pursuits are an integral part of the Auldern Academy program, health and nutrition are paramount components of our program as well. We are happy to announce a fantastic partnership with Nutritious Lifestyles, a Florida-based dietary and nutrition consulting company. They will be helping us with menu creation, assisting with food purchasing, offering nutritional consultation to our students as well as providing training to our kitchen staff. We are excited about this opportunity to help our girls develop life-long healthful habits.
Admissions and Marketing in Tampa
Every year the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) hosts a major conference that brings together programs, therapeutic services and educational consultants from across the country. This year the conference, hosted outside of Tampa, FL, provided professional development and networking opportunities for attendees. Auldern Academy’s admissions director, Eileen Antalek and marketing director, Deara Ball, attended the conference and connected with other like-minded individuals. On Friday, February 2nd Deara, along with a group of other marketing and admissions representatives from other programs presented on different ways to highlight a program’s strengths and empower staff to feel confident in promoting their services genuinely and authentically.
Deara Ball, MS Joins Auldern Team
Deara Ball enthusiastically joined the Auldern Academy team in December. A clinician by training, she transitioned to marketing and admissions in 2013 after working for several years as a therapist in a variety of settings, including a public high school, a boarding school and a wilderness therapy program. Deara’s role as Marketing Director perfectly combines her clinical skills with her background in English journalism. Her ability to make connections with people, while also communicating and gathering necessary information, is crucial to ensuring that professionals and families truly understand the Auldern Academy program. Deara received her master’s degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from Indiana University and has worked in Admissions and Marketing in Asheville, NC and Boulder, CO. Deara loves the outdoors and is an enthusiastic pet owner, spending much of her free time with her two dogs, Sophie and Chuck and her cat Squeakers. Aside from caring for her animals, Deara loves dancing, reading, hiking and eating.
