We take a unique approach to physical educaiton at Auldern Academy in an effort to make personal fitness more beneficial and enjoyable for students. By incorporating both traditional and nontraditional methods, students are able to learn team building skills and exercise tools that they can use for a lifetime. Each student sets personal goals at the beginning of the semester and classes are designed around helping girls reach their goals. By educating students about proper exercise techniques, healthy exercise habits and nutrition, students leave Auldern Academy well on their way to living a healthy, active lifestyle.
Enrichment Physical Education Offerings: These classes are considered optional and incur a special fee.
This fun and invigorating class teaches a variety of dance styles and techniques such as Jazz, Hip Hop and Modern, among others. The instructor works with the students to determine what interests them most and then uses this as her focus for an 8 week period. All ability levels can be accommodated.
This class benefits students both physically and emotionally. They develop strength, balance and flexibility as they learn the proper techniques for the poses. They learn valuable breathing and relaxation techniques which lead reducing anxiety levels and slowing thoughts.All ability levels can be accommodated.
This class is held off-campus at a riding stable and can accommodate all learning levels. Students learn proper riding as well as English riding techniques and skills. They also learn to care for and maintain the horses.
Fitness and Exercise
Auldern offers multiple opportunities for daily fitness and exercise. Students may opt for trips to the local YMCA where they can access a variety of fitness machines and weights. They work with a fitness trainer to develop realistic goals. Furthermore, each evening they can access the Auldern fitness equipment, play games in the gym or on the playing fields. They may also run and jog on a path around the campus.
