Nicole Hopkins, M.Ed. – Clinician
Nicole Hopkins received her Masters of Education in Family Counseling from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA. She received her undergraduate degree in English and Spanish from Mercer University in Macon, GA. Before joining Auldern, she provided intensive in home support to adolescents and their families. She enjoys using different techniques and approaches when working in individual and group therapy and with families. She has experience facilitating groups focused on substance abuse and recovery from addiction.
Nicole brings great enthusiasm and creativity to her work. She thrives on collaboration and loves being part of the Auldern team. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to visit her extended family and many friends. She also enjoys reading, watching movies and spoiling her niece and nephew.
Amy Berent, M.A., LPC - Clinician
Shondell Hawkins, MSW, LCSW-P, LSW - Clinician
Shondell has aspirations of helping Auldern students through the process of understanding healthy boundaries with others and for themselves. She hopes to provide more insight on what healthy life skills can look like for each young lady individually.
Shondell recently relocated to Cary, North Carolina and enjoys spending time with her daughter, going for walks, and bike rides. She also thoroughly enjoys documentaries of all types.
Jackie Hartman, MS, LPC - Clinician
Jackie earned her Master of Science degree in Art Therapy from Florida State University. She also holds her Bachelor of Fine Art Degree in Illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design. Jackie is a Licensed Professional Counselor for the state of North Carolina. Before joining Auldern, Jackie provided outpatient art and play therapy services for children, adolescents, and their families in office, home, and school-based settings, both in North Carolina and in Florida. She also served as the Interim Child Program Director for a day treatment program in Raleigh, NC. Jackie’s therapeutic knowledge and experience includes severe neglect, abuse and other traumas, depression, anxiety, attachment and relational issues, grief and loss, divorce and blended families, anger management, self-esteem, and self-image issues.
Jackie has been made witness to the incredible life-changing process art therapy can evoke, especially in teenage girls. Guiding these girls on a journey through self-expression and self-awareness so as to facilitate the healing process is Jackie’s primary goal here at Auldern. She brings compassion, enthusiasm, and constancy to her work. When she is not at Auldern, Jackie enjoys painting, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.

Karen Storm - Clinician
Karen joins the Auldern team with over 11 years of clinical experience where she has helped children and families in various settings including therapeutic wilderness programs in Florida and North Carolina, the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, and most recently as an intake/crisis therapist at a local Community Mental Health Center.
Karen has a Master of Counseling Psychology from Frostburg State University in Maryland and she is a Licensed Psychological Associate in the state of North Carolina.
Karen believes that a trusting, honest therapeutic alliance established between the therapist and the girls they work with is the key to evoking growth and change.
In her time away from Auldern, Karen enjoys the outdoors, exercising, playing with her three dogs, and her greatest joy – spending time with her 4 year old son.
