About Us

Meeting the Intellectual, Emotional and Social Needs of Our Students

The staff and faculty members of Auldern Academy understand that caring relationships have the power to educate and heal.

The intimate, nurturing environment of our all girls boarding school is designed to foster such relationships, where students quickly build healthy, lasting friendships with each other and develop supportive connections with faculty and staff members. The result is a warm, emotionally safe school environment where students meet with confidence the challenges of rigorous academics, social and family relationships.

Our student program consists of three overlapping components, the Academic Department, the Counseling Services Department, and the Student Life Department. This tripartite approach reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of the whole student, intellectually, emotionally and socially.

Academic Department

Auldern Academy’s fully accredited Academic Department strives to prepare students for the dual challenge of the coming independence into college or traditional settings. Our small classes, intensive teacher support, and single-gender environment creates a sense of safety that allows young women to develop their unique voice as thinkers and learners, and to express their uniqueness as members of an educational community.

Counseling Services Department

The Counseling Service Department at Auldern Academy coordinates efforts with the Academic and Student Life departments on behalf of our students while providing individual, group and family therapy. Our therapeutic guidelines, under the supervision of a licensed psychologist, are supported by a best practice model and evidenced based treatment strategies. Treatment strategies are selected based on scientific research concerning the organic basis of emotion as it applies to adolescent girls. As in keeping with our treatment philosophy, clinicians strive to build strong therapeutic bonds and alliances with the students they work with as they help them grow and develop as productive members of society.

Student Life Department

The Student Life Department teaches both the hard skills required for independent living and the softer skills necessary for successful peer relationships. It is often the day-to-day realities of life that present the most imposing challenges to students as they find they learn to balance the responsibilities of independence with those of community membership.
