Our students like to take a break, even if it gets a little scary. In addition to zip lines, Alpine towers, and breakout rooms, Sky Wild was a destination enjoyed by many this year on our summer experiential trip. We take this trip every year as a kickoff to the fall term. This provides the opportunity to bond with each other as well as to expand skills and explore new things.
One student, J, noted that she greatly enjoyed the zip lines. Then, when talking about it, she noted she tried it because “It was the only activity I wasn’t scared of—the Alpine tower and the ropes were too high for me!” She laughed, though, noting that everything on the trip was fun.
One of our Student Life counselors laughed that spending time in the bunkhouse was “interesting” to say the least! However, the girls were so tired after each day of taking part in activities that there was nothing but quiet once they settled down to sleep at night. Another Student Life counselor laughed that while she paddle boarded for the first time, she decided it was best to remain seated during the experience.
The only downside is getting back to work. One of our students, M, was doing math during lunch today, noting that it’s hard to get back into the swing of school. Still, the energy and renewed enthusiasm for school is downright electric! Even M conceded that “it’s not really that bad!”
And even Monsieur Fred went zip lining.
