Eileen Antalek, Ed.D., CEP
Eileen Antalek has served families as an Independent Educational Consultant for more than 20 years. A Massachusetts-licensed School Psychologist, member of the American Psychological Association, and a nationally Certified Educational Planner, Dr. Antalek has conducted countless psychoeducational evaluations over the course of her career and has provided expert testimony for Board of Special Education Appeals cases. As a member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA), she has toured and evaluated many therapeutic, Special Education, and other programs for her clients including hospitals, group homes, wilderness options, private day and boarding schools, and colleges.
Dr Antalek has worked in collaboration with lawyers, neurologists, teachers, counselors, S&L Pathologists, pediatricians, psychiatrists, occupational therapists , and other specialists in pursuit of viable solutions for the educational and emotional need of children, adolescents, and young adults. As a way of giving back to her community, Dr. Antalek has volunteered in positions that serve the educational and therapeutic communities. In addition to providing organizational and other support at professional regional and national conferences, she spent several years on the Board of Directors of the MA Branch of the International Dyslexia Association and, since 2011, has been an active participant on the Government Relations Committee of the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs. She has presented locally, regionally, and nationally on issues related to school and placement options, assessments, learning development and learning disabilities, and the therapeutic needs and educational options of a variety of learners.
While she has enjoyed a long and successful career as an Educational Consultant, Dr. Antalek enjoys her position with Auldern Academy because it provides the perfect venue to apply her extensive knowledge and expertise. She and her husband of nearly 38 years have two adult children, one granddaughter, one dog, and a large and loving extended family system.
Deara Ball, MS
Deara Ball enthusiastically joined the Auldern Academy team in December 2017. A clinician by training, she transitioned to roles in marketing and admissions in 2013 after working for several years as a therapist in a variety of settings, including a public high school, a boarding school and a wilderness therapy program. Deara’s role as Marketing Director suitably combines her clinical skills with her background in English and journalism. Her ability to make connections with people, while also communicating and gathering necessary information, is crucial to ensuring that professionals and families truly understand the Auldern Academy program. Deara received her master’s degree in Counseling and Educational Psychology from Indiana University and has worked in Admissions and Marketing in Asheville, NC and Boulder, CO. Deara loves the outdoors and is an enthusiastic pet owner, spending much of her free time with her two dogs, Sophie and Chuck and her cat Squeakers. Aside from caring for her animals, Deara loves dancing, reading, hiking and eating.
